Spray-On Foam Insulation
Spray foam insulation is the most advanced energy saving system currently available for your home.
The US Department of Energy tested extensively and concluded that air leakage is the primary cause of energy loss in our homes. Meeting code required R-Values does not provide energy efficiency! The truth is that while "R-value's" are an effective way to measure "conduction" (thermal resistance to heat flow of an insulation material) it does not measure "convection" (the most significant type of heat gain or loss, through air leakage).
 A common misconception is that adding insulation to increase R-value provides a proportionate increase in its ability to control heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. But actually, R-12 insulation already controls 93% of potential energy loss through a material. An upgrade from R-12 to R-32, for example, will reduce conductive heat flow by only 4%. More important, R-value does not address the primary methods of heat transfer — air leakage and convection.
Traditional insulation products are also greatly compromised during installation. Even the best installation crews leave gaps, voids and compressed areas that routinely result in reductions of stated R-Values of 50% or more.
